Ten Things to Consider When Buying a Weight lifting Belt

1. Always see your physician if you are contemplating weightlifting as a sport to make sure that your physical condition is good and that using a weightlifting belt is okay.

2. The first consideration is to make a decision as to whether you want a leather or nylon weightlifting belt. Leather belts are used more frequently by weightlifters for squats and bends using heavy weights, as they are stiffer and are less likely to cause strain while lifting.

3. A nylon weightlifting belt has more flexibility and are the popular choice for power lifters and those who engage in heavy lifting work like moving furniture. A nylon belt is also easier on the skin.

4. The next most important consideration is whether to go with a hook and pin or quick release locking mechanism. A quick release belt lock is nice because it allows you to custom fit the lock every time you where it.

5. A hook pin belt lock must be properly fitted to make sure when you where it, it is as tight as it you need it to be. Although the quick release lock belt makes more sense because it can be adjusted, many weightlifters prefer the hook and pin because they feel more secure.
